Abstract:
Precise Standard Model measurements or search for new physics phenomena require understanding not only of the primary scattering, but also accompanying interactions of the rest of the proton-proton collision. This talk presents results of the study of the effects of Multi-Parton Interactions (MPI) in diffractive events observed in proton-proton interactions at the Large Hadron Collider by the ATLAS experiment at 13 TeV. Intact protons originating from such events were tagged and measured by dedicated forward detectors of the ATLAS experiment – the AFP detectors. The MPI sensitive observables are presented. Predictions of the Pythia 8 A2 single diffractive Monte Carlo are compared to the experimental results. Tuning of the Pythia 8 single diffractive Monte Carlo parameters is attempted.
