Europe/Warsaw
Description

Abstract:

Hadroproduction of heavy vector quarkonia at high energy colliders is still a challenge for theory. Although the single inclusive production cross sections may be well described with the Color Octet Model, pair production occurs in experiments at higher rates than expected. This may indicate that some non-factorized effects contribute to the quarkonia production mechanism. In this context we investigate single inclusive charmonia hadroproduction, assuming that formation of the mesons occurs from c-cbar pairs with low invariant mass as a result of color reconnection in the whole event. The mechanism is entirely described within PYTHIA Monte Carlo with a built-in QCD-inspired color reconnection model. We find that with the color reconnection turned on the model agrees well with the LHC data for J/psi hadroproduction, while when turned off - the data are badly underestimated. We discuss the implications.
