dr hab. Adam Matyja (IFJ PAN): Recent ALICE experimental results on ultra-peripheral collisions

Europe/Warsaw
Description

Abstract:

ALICE has a unique opportunity to study vector meson photoproduction processes at various rapidities, centre-of-mass energies and collision systems via the ultra-peripheral collisions (UPC) of heavy ions. Such effects like the gluon saturation and nuclear shadowing, or spatial gluon distribution and subnucleon gluon structure can be addressed by vector meson photoproduction studies. The results on coherent J/psi measurements with forward neutron tagging, results on the momentum transfer dependence of coherent and incoherent J/psi photoproduction, the exclusive and dissociative J/psi photoproduction off protons, together with the study of dimuon events produced in two-photon interactions, and rho^0 and psi(2S) photoproduction results, as well as, the perspectives of future measurements in ALICE will be presented.

Important: This seminar is held in building D-11 room 104.
