Abstract:

Vector mesons produced in the ultraperipheral collisions (UPC) provide an insight into nuclear structure, where various effects like quantum interference, gluon saturation or nuclear shadowing can be studied. The recent results coming from the UPC of heavy ions measured with the ALICE detector will be shown. The upgrade of the ALICE detector will be also discussed.
