Dr Jacek Biernat (IFJ PAN): Probing QGP in Heavy Ion collisions with charm hadrons at ultra relativistic energies with ALICE

Europe/Warsaw
Description

Abstract:

Quantum chromodynamics (QCD) predicts that matter under extreme temperature and densities can exist in a form of Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP). In such form the quarks and the gluons are not bound in to hadrons but exist in a form of matter deviating form standard observations. It is predicted that such form of matter may exist in the core of a neutron star or in Heavy Ion collisions at ultra-high energies.
Thermodynamic properties of QGP may by probed with heavy quarks (like c or b). Such quarks are produced in the early stage of the collisions and can interact with the medium vial elastic and non-elastic scattering.
In the course of this seminar the author will provide an overview of recent charm hadron measurements done at LHC with the emphasis on the polarisation measurements for J/Ψ obtained in pp and PbPb collisions by ALICE, LHCb and CDF. In the second part novel methods of signal reconstruction based on ML will be discussed.
