Abstract:
On February 13, 2025, the KM3NeT experiment announced in the prestigious journal Nature the discovery of a cosmic neutrino with an unprecedented energy of about 220 PeV (nearly 16 thousand times higher than the maximum energy achievable at the LHC). This remarkable event, named KM3-230213A, opens an entirely new frontier of research that was previously beyond our reach.
During this seminar, I will take you on a virtual journey to the very edge of physics. We will travel from the depths of the cosmos to the deepest of the Mediterranean Sea. Along the way, we will meet the cosmic messenger KM3-230213A, explore the next-generation neutrino telescope ARCA, and peek behind the curtain of the universe to uncover which astrophysical object sent us this neutrino and what message it carries. Join me, and together we will uncover the secrets hidden within the highest-energy neutrino ever detected.
Important: This seminar is held in building D-11 room 104.
