Paweł Jucha (IFJ PAN): Light-by-light scattering at the LHC: cross section calculations and experimental outlook

Europe/Warsaw
Description

Abstract:

Light-by-light scattering is a quantum process that has been observed in heavy-ion collisions at the LHC. In my presentation, I will outline the theoretical methodology used to determine the cross sections for the γγ → γγ scattering process. I will discuss the scattering mechanisms and predictions for future experiments. I will also address the correlation between photon-fusion processes and the measurement of neutrons emitted in ultraperipheral collisions.

Important: This seminar is held in building D-11 room 104.
