dr Hamzeh Khanpour (AGH): Precision determination of polarized PDFs with projected EIC SIDIS measurements

Europe/Warsaw
Description

Abstract:

The Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) will provide unprecedented opportunities to probe the spin structure of hadrons with high precision over an extended kinematic range. In this talk, we will present a quantitative assessment of the impact of projected EIC measurements on global QCD analyses of polarized parton distribution functions (PDFs). Using state-of-the-art simulated semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering (SIDIS) data with identified hadrons (𝜋±, 𝐾±), we investigate the expected reduction of polarized-PDF uncertainties and the improvement in flavor separation, particularly in the small-𝑥 region. We demonstrate that including EIC pseudodata substantially strengthens constraints on sea-quark helicities, with a notable impact on the strange-quark helicity distribution.

Finally, we will briefly comment on how fragmentation function (FFs) precision and complementary unpolarized information affect the robustness of SIDIS-based polarized-PDF extractions.
