dr Georgy Kornakov (Politechnika Warszawska): Correlated pion-proton pair emission off hot and dense QCD matter

Europe/Warsaw
Description

Abstract:

The reconstruction of pion-proton correlated pairs emitted from Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 2.4 GeV at the HADES experiment allows one to access the latest stages of the evolution of the hot and dense hadronic matter. A new iterative method has been developed to extract the correlated signal from the spectra dominated by combinatorial background. I will report the first multi-differential measurement of $pi^+$p and $pi^-$p pairs reconstructed from 2 billion Au+Au collisions in four centrality intervals between 0 and 40%. The invariant-mass distributions in the $\Delta(1232)$ mass region show strong deviations from a Breit-Wigner function with vacuum width and mass. The extracted spectra of correlated $pi$p pairs, their differential $p_{\text{T}}$ distributions as well as the rapidity distributions provide a rich data base for a detailed comparison to different model calculations.
