Abstract:

After the discovery of a Higgs boson there is no more no-lose theorem telling us what to expect next.  It is therefore important to check whether the discovered particle is THE Higgs boson responsible for  the electroweak symmetry breaking. In this respect the vector boson scattering is the most direct probe of the Higgs mechanism.  With no sign of any new paricles, the effective field theory approach  may provide a model independent formulation of new physics. I will discuss advantages and limitations of this approach taking as an example same-sign WW scattering process.
