dr Valeriya Mykhaylova (Uniwersytet Wrocławski): Exploring the properties of hot QCD matter in the quasiparticle approach

Europe/Warsaw
Description

Abstract:

Thermodynamic properties of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) have been successfully described by lattice gauge theory simulations. However, a precise determination of its transport properties remains a peculiar task on the QCD agenda. Therefore, we investigate the transport properties of hot QCD matter within the phenomenological quasiparticle approach. The system consists of quasi-quarks and -gluons in the deconfined phase, with the interactions embodied in their dynamical masses by the effective running coupling extracted from lattice QCD data. We examine various transport parameters of the deconfined matter in pure Yang-Mills theory and full QCD with light and strange quark flavors. In particular, using kinetic theory under the relaxation time approximation, we compute the specific shear and bulk viscosities, as well as the production rate of charm quarks. The acquired results agree with various QCD approaches, such as alternative quasiparticle frameworks, gauge/gravity duality at lower temperatures, and perturbation theory in the high-temperature regime.
