Prof. Agnieszka Zalewska (IFJ PAN): Is there CP violation in the neutrino sector?

Abstract:

As demonstrated by Sacharov, one of the three conditions needed to explain the dominance of matter in the Universe is the breaking of CP symmetry. CP non-conservation in the quark sector, which has been studied for many years, still seems to be not sufficient. Latest result that the q13 mixing angle is reasonably large, opened the possibility to study the CP non-conservation in the neutrino sector.  In April this year the T2K collaboration published a paper in Nature setting constraints on the CP violating phase in neutrino oscillations, consistent with large values of this phase. This result and the future experimental prospects will be presented.
