Abstract:
In my talk I will introduce the adiabatic theorem and explore the two limits of time evolution in quantum mechanics with time-dependent Hamiltonian: instantaneous and adiabatic. I will present those two limits on a toy model of a spin oscillating in changing magnetic field and introduce the Berry phase for the adiabatic case. In the end I will present the consequences of Berry phase discovery for modern physics.
