Abstract:
We will discuss the recent thread of investigations of the partonic structure of the nucleon from QCD formulated on the lattice. While up to a few years ago only lowest Mellin moments of partonic distributions could be extracted from lattice QCD, the breakthrough proposal of Ji in 2013 allowed the community to start addressing directly also their x-dependence. We will briefly review Ji's approach, i.e. quasi-distributions based on large momentum effective theory, as well as other approaches, in particular Radyushkin's pseudo-distributions based on factorization in coordinate space. Then, we will present the recent directions pursued by the Extended Twisted Mass Collaboration: twist-2 parton distribution functions (PDFs) and generalized parton distributions (GPDs), as well as our exploration of twist-3 PDFs. We will also discuss the potential impact of lattice data for constraining PDFs, applying the robust neural network framework of NNPDF.
