Abstract:
Ultra-high-energy (UHE) neutrinos are unique messengers from the most violent astrophysical sources. In this talk, we will discuss the ongoing efforts of the Polish KM3NeT group to determine whether UHE neutrinos can be “heard” with KM3NeT, using the acoustic signals they produce in seawater. We will present preliminary results on the expected signal and the ambient acoustic background in the deep sea, and discuss the prospects for acoustic detection.
Important: This seminar is held in building D-11 room 104.
