Abstract:
We first recall the phase-shift approach to calculate the contribution of resonances to the pressure of a thermal gas. To this end, we shall make use of a solvable QM model (the so-called Lee model) and present some results for well-known resonances, such as the rho and the sigma mesons. Next, we discuss, upon using a QFT approach, the emergence of a bound state due to attractive interaction of (scalar) particles and we investigate how the bound state affects the pressure of the thermal gas of this system.
