prof. dr Tamas Csorgo and I. Szanyi (Budapest, Gyöngyös): Observation of Odderon effects at LHC energies: a real extended Bialas–Bzdak model study

Europe/Warsaw
Description

Abstract:

The unitarily extended Bialas–Bzdak model of elastic proton–proton scattering is applied, without modifications, to describe the differential cross-section of elastic proton–antiproton collisions in the TeV energy range, and to extrapolate these differential cross-sections to LHC energies. In this model-dependent study we find that the differential cross-sections of elastic proton–proton collision data at 2.76, 7 and 8 TeV energies differ significantly from the differential cross-section of elastic proton–antiproton collisions extrapolated to these energies.  Taken together these results provide a model-dependent, but discovery level evidence, with a statistical significance greater than 10 sigma, for a crossing-odd component of the elastic scattering amplitude,  valid in the limited kinematic range of 0.541 <= sqrt(s) <= 8 TeV and 0.377 <= -t <= 1.2 GeV**2 kinematic domain.

Important: This seminar is held in building D-11 room 104.

Please, be advised that due to the pandemic sanitary rules, we can absorbe 1 unvaccinated person per 10m^2, which means 4 people. As most of us are vaccinated, this should not be a problem. There will be a list of participants, stating that they were (or were not) vaccinated / are immune / with a valid covid test, where we will ask you to sign in upon arrival. Also, people with ANY symptoms of cold (either of running nose, cough, temperature, ...), not necessarily covid, are not allowed to participate according to the rules. We hope you understand. The situation is dynamic and we will of course keep you posted. At the moment we plan to proceed “live”, similary to teaching at AGH.
