Abstract:

I will present an overview on the use of charge fluctuation to explore the QCD phase diagram. I will discuss the latest development, in particular, new insights in how to compare measurements with theory. I will further discuss other cases where fluctuations are helpful for our understanding of heavy ion collisions, such as proton annihilation in the hadronic phase.
